“Hoover Dam” – a miracle of human ingenuity presented through the eyes of InPhotoStock photographers. Built during the Great Depression. It tamed the power of the Colorado River. The concrete arch-gravity structure is impressively extensive. Work began in 1931 and was completed in 1936. It was a huge, ambitious engineering undertaking. Thousands of people toiled to revive this colossal dam. The creation of the dam created the Lake Mead Reservoir. It provided much-needed employment in times of economic hardship. The dam generates hydropower for the region. It is a symbol of American resilience. Named after President Herbert Hoover. It is an important landmark both in terms of tourism and public utility. The structure is a testament to 20th century engineering. The Hoover Dam remains an iconic American architectural wonder.
